The flying car’s projects are coming more and more common in the last two decades, and one that has arrived in the last weeks is the Switchblade project, the Samson Sky’s flying car project. As the general manager of the company, Sam Bousfield, has said, he and his team are going to begin the tests of high velocity of breaking-in before the first flight, that is expected to be in the next weeks, after an inspection of the Federal Air Force Administration of the United States.
This car has two modes, the flying mode and the road mode, and only is needed three minutes to pass from one mode to another. The car is 5 metres long and 1.8 meters width, so it can be introduced so easy in a garage or going with it to an airport. In flight mode, in can achieve 300 km/h when is flying at 4,000 meters high with an autonomy of 700 kilometres. In road mode, it can achieve 200 km/h thanks to the 190 horsepower engine that this car has.
Until this moment, the car still has some tests to pass, like all the flying cars use to have, to be homologated for the use of this car in real live. The owners of this flying car will have to have a flying license and a car license to acquire it, so only the people that have this flying license will be able to buy it.
There are 1,670 persons that have reserved this car for free, but after the first flight, they will have to pay $2,000 to keep the reserve. In spite of this car has a lot reserves, is expected to pass some years until the owners will have this car on their hands. The company has not announced the price that this car will have, but it is expected to be over €170,000.
