A lot of VTOL planes and flying vehicles has been presented during the last years, most of them use the drone technology and has to spend a lot energy to take off and land. This is the problem that the company Talyn Air wants to solve. They have fabricated a new aerodynamic eVTOL plane with glider form.
Talyn Air is a company founded by two engineers that worked for Tesla some years ago, and they propose a different solution for the VTOL system problem. The key is the cabin of the plane, that has been called Cruise, this cabin is similar to a high speed and long range electric plane that transforms to a eVTOL vehicle by adding a removable hoist platform that is in charge for the vertical displacements.
The idea is that the VTOL system will only be available when it is necessary to get a better aerodynamic. It will have eight big rotors organized in two at a time in the respective coaxial shafts. It will have a battery to control the power and the plane. It will allow five passengers and can fly 300 miles with a top speed of 200 mph. To land, the plane has two options, first it can land like a usual plane, but it can do it with the Vertiport system and use the VTOL system.
At the moment, it is an idea and they have to solve some problems, like how to elevate the cabin and the passengers during the flight and get the flight certificate first, to do that, first they have to make some test flights and try to make it as satisfactory as possible. The company has not revealed more information at this time, they have not said anything about the schedule that they want to follow for the launch or the tests, so we have to be attentive to this interesting project and for more information revealed about it. The company wants to use it as an air taxi.
