All Taylor Swift fans have been waiting for a long time for the singer to release her new song and now we finally have Carolina available, which will be part of the soundtrack of Where The Crawdads Sing, a movie that will be released on July 15 and is based on the best seller with which it shares its name.
It was last June 21, when the official account of the film shared a collage that was more like a puzzle in which some clues of what could happen were hidden. In addition, the publication hid a secret message that read “This Thursday”. And so it was, the following Thursday Taylor Swift surprised everyone with the surprise release of the song through her social networks. Interestingly, many theorized that the puzzle was the big clue, because Taylor Swift is fond of sharing information about her works through hidden clues, so many thought that the movie and the artist would be related. And they were right.
The singer-songwriter also confirmed that more than a year and a half ago she had written this song in a single night in a fit of creativity. It was later, together with Aaron Dessner, that she began to work on the sound. This work was especially rigorous because the artist insisted that the instruments with which to create the melody that would accompany the lyrics, were all those that had existed until 1953. None later.
As for the lyrics themselves, they tell the story of a girl who has always lived in the suburbs and who faces a constant conflict of feelings: loneliness and independence, curiosity and fear, and also the distrust of a naturally sweet girl who faces a situation in which she can betray herself at any moment. The similarity to the film’s script is what makes it the ideal song for its soundtrack.
The duet between Taylor Swift and Aaron Dessner has managed to create a song that conveys a haunting, ethereal and mysterious feeling, just like the story surrounding Where The Crawdads Sing.
