This July, some interesting films will be released in theaters. If you are a fan of horror and mystery movies, this is your month, since July brings us no less than three horror movies, including the fifth installment of the saga ‘Insidious’. In addition, this month we will enjoy one of the most awaited action movies, ‘Mission Impossible’, with a more daring Tom Cruise than ever.
1. Insidious: The Red Door (July 7)
The film ‘Insidious: The Red Door’ is a supernatural horror thriller directed by Patrick Wilson in his debut as a director that will be released on July 7. It is the fifth installment of the Insidious franchise and the direct sequel to ‘Insidious’ (2010) and ‘Insidious: Chapter 2’ (2013). The film is set ten years after the ending of the second film and it follows the original cast of the horror franchise for the final chapter in the terrifying saga of the Lambert family. To end their demons once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must delve deeper than ever into The Afterlife, confronting their family’s dark past and a host of new and more terrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door. She must face her darkest fears and uncover the secrets behind the door before it consumes her and everyone she loves.
2. Joy Ride (July 7)
Joy Ride is a comedy film that follows four Asian-American friends as they travel through Asia in search of one of their birth mothers. Along the way, they discover the truth of what it means to know and love who they are, while having a lot of fun and trouble. The film is directed by Adele Lim and stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu.
3. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part I (July 12)
Mission Impossible 7 is the latest installment in the popular spy thriller franchise starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, a secret agent who faces impossible odds and deadly enemies. The film, is directed by Christopher McQuarrie. The plot of the film is still largely unknown, but it is expected to feature some of the most spectacular stunts and action sequences ever seen on the big screen. Cruise, who is known for performing his own stunts, reportedly drove a motorcycle off a cliff, jumped from a helicopter, and rode a train at high speed for the film. The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, and Henry Czerny, among others. Mission Impossible 7 is the first part of a two-film finale that will conclude the story of Ethan Hunt and his team. The second part, Mission Impossible 8, is scheduled for release in 2022. Fans of the franchise can expect a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to one of the most successful and longest-running action series in Hollywood history.

4. Oppenheimer (July 21)
Oppenheimer is a 2023 biographical drama film directed by Christopher Nolan, based on the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American physicist who led the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. The film explores Oppenheimer’s life and career, from his early scientific achievements to his involvement in the Manhattan Project, the secret program that produced the first nuclear weapons. The film also depicts Oppenheimer’s moral dilemmas, personal relationships, and political conflicts, as well as the historical events and consequences of his work.
5. Barbie (July 21)
Barbie 2023 is an adventure, comedy, and fantasy film directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and Nicola Coughlan. The film is based on the famous Mattel doll and tells the story of Barbie, a perfect inhabitant of Barbie Land who suffers an existential crisis and decides to explore the real world with her boyfriend Ken. The film is a satire of gender stereotypes and pop culture, with a humorous and ironic tone.
6. Sympathy for the Devil (July 28)
Is a psychological thriller directed by Yuval Adler and starring by Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman. It follows a man known as The Driver, who is forced to drive a mysterious passenger (called The Passenger) at gunpoint. So it finds itself in a high-stakes “game of cat and mouse where it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems”.
7. Talk To Me (July 28)
‘Talk To Me’ is a supernatural horror film directed by Danny and Michael Philippou that follows Mia (Sophie Wilde), a teenager who, while dealing with the recent loss of her mother, develops an intense fascination with the supernatural to connect with her. She becomes embroiled with the supernatural following a séance with an embalmed hand, an inscribed hand that allows whoever holds it to be possessed by a random spirit. The rule is not to hold the hand for more than ninety seconds; any longer and the spirit can make its forever home in the possessed. With her group of friends discovering how to conjure spirits using the embalmed hand, they become hooked on the new thrill, until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.
As a studio, A24 has garnered a reputation for producing well-crafted and intriguing horror movies. In fact, one of A24’s highest-grossing and most critically acclaimed films is the horror movie Hereditary. So, it goes we are quite excited to see what ‘Talk to Me’ has in store for us.
