The most anticipated event in theater, the Tony Awards, was held this weekend in New York City. The Radio City Music Hall in the Big Apple acted as a stage to host the expected event that rewards the American theater, in a great gala in which some of the most famous faces of the interpretation could be seen.
Sarah Paulson, Jessica Chastain, Vanessa Hudgens, Lea Michele, Ariana DeBose… Stars that have shone in a special way through their outfits on the red carpet of the Tony Awards 2022, held at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York. On the red carpet, we have been able to delight us with glamorous fashion, but also gave way to transgression and innovation with designs with dramatic volumes or fantasy necklines. And although black was one of the winners of the evening, there was no shortage of shades as demanded as pink. One by one, we list the best and most talked-about looks.
Last night, names such as Ariana De Bose and Jessica Chastain posed on a spectacular red carpet in their best clothes. The American actress, who won this year her first Oscar for best actress for The Eyes of Tammy Faye, surprised all the spotlights wearing a spectacular pink dress that follows some of the guest trends that reign this year and reminiscent of one of the most striking dresses of Kate Middleton’s closet in 2019.
Jessica Chastain wore a satin Gucci design with boat neckline and corset style bodice with marked waist and draped skirt in flight ending in a tail. A spectacular bet to which she added silver earrings branched with pink details that she showed with her hair combed with water waves, withdrawn to one side.
Accompanying Chastain, who was responsible for the awards ceremony, were many other well-known names who also walked the red carpet, proving that this is not only one of the most eagerly awaited meetings on the artistic scene, but also one of the most important fashion events of the year. Among the personalities who visited Radio City Music Hall this past weekend were Billy Porter, Cinthia Erivo, Hugh Jackman and Vanessa Hudgens, among many other guests. A meeting that is celebrated in style in the middle of the year and that pays tribute to cinema and fashion
A Strange Loop, a non-negotiably African American play that after opening in Chicago in 2020 had become the first musical in history to win the Pulitzer without going to Broadway (and the tenth to do so overall), was nominated for 11 awards and took two: best musical play and best libretto for a musical. Company, three times revived on Broadway excluding this one, was up for nine. It won six (best revival, direction, actor, actress and scenic design).
The clash between the past and the present, to which Broadway returns with bourgeois frequency and tenacity, was especially inevitable this year. It was the first ceremony after the covid hiatus, which kept theaters closed until practically last September (the industry has generated profits of $845 million, when the previous one was $1.8 billion): the gala was to launch the message that the Broadway of always has resisted the pandemic.
Let’s not forget two great actors of this gala, who are
