Far from being something to be ashamed of, it’s something to be proud of and repeat over and over again. The advantages are clear. First, it’s an activity that promotes shared fun. Additionally, it reduces stress, is a way to immerse ourselves in other worlds that makes us forget about the problems around us, we escape from reality and focus on enjoying the company. Finally, it’s an amazing way to strengthen friendships and create shared memories. Discussing the aspects of the movie, laughing at them, enjoying the music and character creation can be a way to bring people together and foster a sense of community and camaraderie.
Although it’s difficult to make a summary and categorization of movies that are suitable for watching in company despite their reviews, let’s give it a try. The first one is Cats, the 2019 movie directed by Tom Hooper. From classical ballet to contemporary dance, from hip-hop to jazz, from street dance to tap, the movie reinterprets Andrew Lloyd Webber’s popular musical for a new generation.

Another movie we can’t leave out is “The Emoji Movie” from 2017, directed by Anthony Leondis. The film reveals a previously unknown secret world hidden inside our smartphones. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, the bustling city where all our favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by mobile users. In this world, every emoji, except for Gene (T.J. Miller in the original version and Quim Gutiérrez in the Spanish version), has only one expression, an exuberant one filled with multiple expressions born without filters, an emoji full of emotions.
“The Snowman” is another movie that should be mentioned here. It’s a suspense and crime film directed by Tomas Alfredson and released in 2017. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Jo Nesbø and features a cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and J.K. Simmons.
The plot follows detective Harry Hole (played by Michael Fassbender) as he investigates a series of disappearances and murders of women in Norway. The only clue he has is a snowman found at each crime scene, suggesting that the killer is obsessed with winter.
Lastly, it’s worth mentioning “Fifty Shades Freed,” a drama and erotic romance movie directed by James Foley and released in 2018. It’s the third and final installment of the movie trilogy based on E.L. James’ novels, and stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in the lead roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.
The plot follows Anastasia and Christian in their marriage as they face new challenges and dangers. The story focuses on the couple’s domestic life as well as Christian’s turbulent past and his relationship with his family.
As we can see, there is a whole genre of fans addicted to B-movies, which are movies made with a low budget that manage to reach a large audience and change the very concept of cinema. This allows us to explore new genres and cinematic styles that we would not normally consider watching. Therefore, watching bad movies in company allows us to discover and experience sensations that we would not normally do.
