Ten years we have been able to enjoy the wonderful music, dance, staging and friendship of Little Mix. The British girl group, winners of X Factor, has spent a decade giving us hits that have made us dance, scream and cry.
However, the group’s time has come to an end. After the departure of Jesy Nelson, and as always happens in almost all groups, the group has been very short-lived. Although the departure of this member has not affected anything and the girls released a new compilation album with some new songs called Between Us, the recent maternity of Leigh-Anne and Perrie could be one of the reasons. Probably the singers have decided that they want to dedicate time to their new families as it is logical.
Last Saturday the group started their farewell tour, which will only be in the UK, and which ends an era of success. The tour, which just kicked off in Belfast, features a notable handful of singles from the girls, including a mash up between Salute and Industry Baby by Lil Nas X and another with Only You and No Time For Tears.
After this tour and as they explained last December in a statement, the girls will take a hiatus period, or what is the same, a temporary break in the activities as a group. Although many of us already know that these hiatuses become so long that they turn into a definitive break, as has happened in the case of One Direction. It is understandable that after ten years as a group they want to develop their careers individually.
In the statement, Little Mix said: ‘We are not splitting up – Little Mix are here to stay. We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more. We’re sisters and we’ll always have each other and you, the fans, in our lives. Little Mix is forever, see you on tour! Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie.’
Little Mix fans were left in tears as Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock confirmed that Confetti will be their last ever tour as the girl band – despite previously saying they would simply be ‘taking a break.’
We don’t know what will happen and if this hiatus will turn into a definitive separation but, what we do know is that whatever happens, their fans will continue to support them in everything they do and will keep waiting for that precious reunion.
