It’s been a while since we’ve seen a laugh-out-loud movie of this style on the big screen. The Lost City, starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum and with the appearance of the most famous wizard in the world Daniel Radcliffe, opens this April 13 in theaters in Spain although in the U.S. have already been able to enjoy this comedy.
Reading only the synopsis, you can be sure that watching this movie will be all tears, but tears of laughter. As it explains: “Immersed in the middle of an epic jungle adventure, the odd couple (Sandra and Channing) will have to put aside their differences and learn to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it disappears forever.
The Paramount Pictures film is directed by brothers Adam and Aaron Nee and produced by Liza Chasin, Seth Gordon and Sandra Bullock herself.
With $31 million grossed, it was last weekend’s top grossing film in the United States and dethroned the unbeatable The Batman. Although the superhero movie has grossed over $332 million, continues to bring audiences to theaters around the globe and continues to prove itself as a blockbuster, the entertaining romantic comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum has been crowned the highest-grossing and most-watched film of the past weekend, a true smash hit for Paramount.
In an industry obsessed with youth, 57-year-old Bullock breaks the symbolic age barrier in Hollywood. Sandra defies the belief that an actress of her age cannot be the sole mainstay of a film. Much of the interest and curiosity that The Lost City has aroused is thanks to her participation in the film.
But, unfortunately for all of us, Sandra Bullock announced, in the promotional interviews for this film, that she is momentarily retiring from acting. At the age of 57, after producing and starring in this film, she expressed that this decision is motivated by family.
Bullock clarified that she means being by her family’s side, especially her two children Louis, 12, and Laila, 10. “I take my job very seriously when I’m doing it. That takes me 24/7 and I just want to be 24/7 with my kids and my family now,” she said about the reason for being absent from the screens.
