We all know that Justin Bieber is always prone to help a lot of emerging singers, songwriters and producers. This was the case with Kehlani who, when she was not so well known, released an amazing collaboration with Bieber back in 2020. History repeats itself. Last week we saw the premiere of Up at night, a new song that will be part of Kehlani’s new album and that lets you see the musical complicity that exists between the two.
Justin Bieber and Kehlani join forces in a dreamy song, in which a retro beat is combined with sensual verses and a euphoric musical hook punctuated by the singer’s effervescent and dazzling interpretation. This collaboration follows their previous work together Get Me, included on Justin’s album Changes (2020).
The song is produced by Andre Pop Wansel and Roget Chahayet and cements itself as Justin Bieber’s second musical release so far in 2022, having already released, as we discussed weeks ago, Attention with Omah Lay.
Khelani has said that with his song, “It’s about having a healthily obsessed relationship. You’re telling someone, ‘I love you so much that it keeps me up at night.’ I love what Justin did, and it’s a lot of fun to dance to.”
Kehlani’s album won’t be waiting much longer and under the title Blue water road will be available in stores worldwide and on major streaming platforms on April 29th. With this release there are four songs that we know of that album: ‘Little story’, ‘Altar’, ‘Miami’ and ‘Up at night’ with Justin Bieber. Of that album the artist says that it is “A destination in my mind. It is an emotional, sexual and spiritual journey. For me, the album is like a big glass house. It’s shiny, transparent and the sun shines on it”.
The American artist’s previous album was a hit and has been listened to 1 billion times worldwide to date. It was released in May 2020 and after receiving rave reviews it ranked #2 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart and #1 on the Billboard Hip-Hop & R&B chart. Let’s hope that for this new album Kehlani will do as well as her previous release and that this collaboration with Justin Bieber will help her to make her music known all over the world.
