Shohei Ohtani is in mid of another season deserving an MVP as a player of Los Angeles Angels. His team will lose playoffs one more time (8 consecutive seasons currently). The star player, that is so good to throw and to bat, could become free agent after the 2023 season.
Another teams that have been in contact with Los Angeles and they have a lot of interest to sign Ohtani. However, is current team has no plan to sell their super star before he become a free agent. This sources are from Jon Paul Morisi of MLB.com.
Despite of face another losing season, with the Japanese player in process of win his second consecutive MVP and with the free agent at the end of the 2023 season, they think that they can convince Ohtani to sign a new contract with the organisation as they did with Mike Trout some years ago.
Ohtani is now with 19 home run and OPS+ of 133 in 90 matches this season. He has an averaged of 2.80 with a strikeout rate of 29.8%. So he is the second pitcher of the league. Before the Friday defeat against Atlanta Braves, Othani has won six consecutive starts. In that section, he barely allowed two earned runs out of 39.2 innings worked.
