The crew of the hit show have shared a video showing how Eddie rehearsed the ‘Metallica’ solo.
The fourth season of Stranger Things has left some great moments to remember. The latest episodes have been acclaimed by both critics and fans of the hit series.
Although each viewer highlights a moment on social networks, there is one scene that is taking all the plaudits. We’re talking about Eddie Munson’s (Joseph Quinn) guitar solo in Upside Down.
Recall that Eddie begins to play Metallica’s Master of Puppets to attract the demobat
. In doing so, he clears the way for Steve (Joe Kery), Robin (Maya Hawke) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) to get to Vecna. An impressive scene that has left many viewers wondering if it was really Quinn playing.
The official Twitter account of the writers of the hit series has cleared up any doubts with a video where Quinn can be seen rehearsing with the electric guitar. “Practice makes perfect” reads the text accompanying the post.
The British actor rehearses so that his pose and hands are just right to perform the legendary Metallica song.
“I had to practice like crazy at three in the morning while memorising the script,” Quinn told TUDUM. The actor received the script only a couple of days before filming began on the last two episodes, so he had little time to rehearse.
He did, however, have the advantage of being able to play the guitar. A prerequisite for the role of Eddie when the Duffer brothers, the show’s creators, cast him.
In addition, the British actor had the help of Tye Trujillo, son of Metallica’s bassist, to achieve the greatest possible accuracy
Although the chord sequence is not easy, Quinn dared to play Master of Puppets on set. However, he did, on occasion, need Trujillo, who is credited in the making of the scene.
The scene featuring Quinn has been described by fans as “majestic”, “powerful”, “epic” or “unforgettable”.
Even Metallica has congratulated the creators of Stranger Things for how it turned out and the well-known actor for his magnificent performance. “We were all excited to see the final result and when we did it we were totally blown away…”, reads a statement from the American band.
