Several leading actors in the new Willy Wonka installment have visited Japan to publicize the film’s premiere.
The young Hollywood star has gone through projects such as “Call Me by Your Name“, “Dune“, or “Rainy Day in New York“. His next job is “Wonka”, a new film of the story created by Roald Dahl. This movie is directed by Paul King, the director of movies like “Paddington”.
This version of Willy “Wonka” comes after Gene Wilder in the 70s and Johnny Depp in 2005. Now is Timothée Chalamet who is going to put face to an unmistakable character. Actually, the young actor was selected to be part of the movie without having to do castings. The director, Paul King, saw his videos rapping on his high school.
The own King said: “We offered it to him directly because he’s great, and he was the only person I had in mind who could do it. Because he’s Timothée Chalamet and his life is so crazy, the videos of his high school musical performances are on YouTube and have thousands of views. So I already knew that Timmy Chalamet sang and danced very well.”
Besides him, the musical film will count with the participation of professionals like Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Grant.
The movie is going to be out on cinemas the next December 6. Meanwhile, the team is on tour promoting the film on different places and countries. Timothée Chalamet went, two weeks ago, to Saturday Night Live. He served looks with the theme of the film. The protagonist of the movie wore a purple jacket with a lilac hoodie from Cactus Plant Flea Market with “Oompa Loompa” written in orange letters.
This past week, some of the actors in the movie traveled to Japan to do a presentation of the movie. Timothée Chalamet and Hugh Grant interacted with the fans on the “Wonka” premiere. On the event, Timothée Chalamet sang the “Oompa Loompa” song to Hugh Grant (which plays an Oompa Loompa). He also thanked his fans and the director and producers of the movie and shared with the public “If you had told me when I was 12 years old and saw Johnny Depp’s version of Willy Wonka that I would be in Tokyo promoting this movie as Willy Wonka, alongside Hugh Grant, I would have believed you were lying to me.”
Another thing that made the fans fall (even more) in love with him was his clothes selected for the event. Timothée once again opted for a purple palette and decided to wear a head-to-toe lilac suit. Since arriving in Japan she has kept true to her innovative aesthetic and isn’t content with wearing pastel colors including an all-leather ensemble from Prada.
He also atended yesterday a “Wonka” photocall alongside Hugh Grant, Olivia Colman and Rowan Atkinson on London.
The New York actor is giving everything to make the film a success. We can’t wait to see more of his looks and to enjoy him singing and dancing on the film. “Wonka” is coming out the next week (December 6) on cinemas all around the world.
