The 58th Superbowl game has been close until the end. The result was a night that closed with a flourish with the Chiefs champions after cardiac overtime and culminated with a kiss from Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
The game kept the spectators glued to the screen but the moment of the night is, like every year, the halftime show. This year, the person in charge of entertaining the public during the break was Usher, who was celebrating his 30-year career in the world of music.
Usher took over the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, to offer an electrifying performance full of dancers, acrobats and showgirls. The singer began with the stadium full of people standing like statues and with him sitting on a galactic throne, dressed entirely in white Dolce and Gabbana with a cape that made him look imposing.
Usher quickly began dancing on the playing field while singing and encouraging the audience to sing with him. “They said I wouldn’t make it, they said I wouldn’t be here, but I am” he said in a brief moment of rest.
Later he went on a circular stage with several dancers. This moment ended with Alicia Keys at the piano singing her hit “If ain’t got you” dressed in a huge red cape that fluttered with the notes. In addition, Usher joined the singer to follow the repertoire together and have some dances full of laughter and complicity.
After Alicia Keys‘ appearance, the surprise guests began to parade around the Halftime Show stage. Jermaine Dupri was next on the line performing ‘Confessions, Pt. II’, while Oscar winner H.E.R. joined the celebration with stunning electric guitar solos on ‘U Got It Bad’ and ‘Bad Girl’.
Usher was little by little shedding layers of clothing from that all-white look, paying tribute to Michael Jackson by wearing a single glove and imitating some of his legendary steps. Finally, in the middle of the performance Usher decided to take off his shirt and show his gym body to the world, all this to facilitate the subsequent wardrobe change.
Finally, Usher appeared with a shiny costume in black and blue tones. The aesthetics matched the dancers and other guest singers. The protagonist appeared skating and dancing among the dancers and later the rappers joined the performance Ludacris and Lil Jon to put the final touch on the almost 15-minute performance.
On social networks, the comments have presented great duality, with people praising the singer while others spoke of boredom and compared him to others like Rihanna or Katy Perry, maintaining the belief that the best Superbowl halftime shows are dominated by women.
The most anticipated moment in the music industry has come to an end and now we have to wait another year to surprise us again. While we wait we have all the previous performances available to make the wait more enjoyable.
