Bayern, Borussia, Real Madrid and PSG have a chance to enter the final round of the UCL (UEFA Champions League) starting next week
The UEFA Champions League (UCL) stands as the most prestigious club competition globally, coveted by European teams, yet only a select few grace its historical annals. As a distinguished club, it is on the verge of welcoming a new member, pending the outcome of the upcoming semifinals. These matches assemble the continent’s top four teams, marking the prelude to the grand finale in London 2024, the tournament’s final edition in its current format, changing for next year.
Semifinals also represent the last chance for many fans to support their teams in person, being the final round played over two legs. It’s noteworthy that since the 2021/22 season, the away goals rule no longer applies in UEFA competitions, including the Champions League.
The UCL Semifinal matches will take place next week and the following one
The dates for the UEFA Champions League semifinals 2023/24 have been set for April 30 and May 1 (first leg) and May 7 and 8 (second leg), determining the contenders for the UCL final. These teams vie for the opportunity to succeed Manchester City as the pinnacle of European football at Wembley.
While the semifinal matchups are determined, the sequence of matches is yet to be announced. UEFA released the schedule on April 18, following the conclusion of the quarterfinals. Both semifinal clashes kick off at 21:00 CEST, the established time slot for the elite European competition in recent seasons.
The semifinals of the Champions League feature Europe’s top four teams this season, with the bracket drawn since the quarterfinals, mapping out the journey for each contender to the June 1 final at Wembley.
Bayern or Real Madrid will face Borussia or Paris Saint Germain at Wembley
The initial semifinal witnessed PSG advancing after defeating Barcelona 3-1 at Montjuïc, setting up a clash against Borussia Dortmund, who overcame Atlético de Madrid 4-2 on aggregate. Hence, the first semifinal pairing is PSG versus Dortmund.
On the other side, the bracket’s formidable contingent includes leading contenders for the trophy. Real Madrid secured a semifinal berth following a legendary victory over Manchester City. They will face Bayern, who clinched a narrow win over Arsenal at the Allianz Arena.
This is the official Central European Time Schedule
The UCL semifinals schedule is as follows:

Second Leg Real Madrid vs. Bayern: May 8, 2024, 21:00 hours
First Leg Dortmund vs. PSG: May 1, 2024, 21:00 hours

The only question left to ask is who will be playing at the highly anticipated final.
This is the last year Champions League will take place with the current format
The fundamental change announced by the UEFA Executive Committee is the abandonment of the current group stage format. The current Champions League season involves 32 participants divided into eight groups of four. Starting from the 2024/25 season, the 36 participating clubs will engage in a league phase of the Champions League (formerly the group stage), allowing four additional teams the chance to compete against Europe’s elite clubs. These 36 teams will partake in a singular league competition where all will compete in a unified ranking.
Under the new format, teams will play eight matches in the revamped league phase (formerly the group stage). They will no longer face three opponents twice (home and away), but rather encounter eight different teams, half at home and the rest away. To determine the eight opponents, teams will initially be divided into four pots. Subsequently, each team will face two opponents from each pot, playing one match against a team from each pot at home and another away.
This restructuring grants clubs the opportunity to confront a broader array of rivals, enhancing the likelihood of fans witnessing top-tier teams clashing more frequently in the early stages of the competition. It also leads to more competitive matches for all clubs.
Nobody dares to predict who will replace Manchester City as the European Champions
Continuing on, these fixtures promise intense competition as the semifinalists vie for a coveted spot in the final showdown at Wembley.
The anticipation surrounding these matches is heightened by the absence of the away goals rule, adding a layer of unpredictability to the proceedings. Teams must approach each leg with strategic precision, knowing that every goal counts equally, regardless of the venue.
As the semifinals approach, football enthusiasts worldwide eagerly await the spectacle that will unfold on the pitch. The Champions League semifinals not only showcase the pinnacle of European football but also serve as a stage for individual brilliance and collective mastery.
In conclusion, the journey to the Champions League final at Wembley is nearing its climax, with semifinal clashes poised to deliver unforgettable moments and determine who will etch their name in footballing history. As the countdown begins, all eyes turn to the pitch, where dreams will collide and champions will emerge.
