Last night was epic in New York City, the MTV VMA’s 2022 were happening and that equal to new fashion moments for the history of music. In advanced, I want to say that this time stylish are getting paid and are working so much that in some cases male and female artists are in the same level (fashion wise). The night gave us some of the most amazing performances of the year, like the 10 minutes medley of Nicki Minaj or the Supermodel song by Maneskin. Also, Taylor Swift announced a new album for fall of this year and Rosalia won best edition for a video. The following list is a resume and a ranking were you can find the best dressed of the night for men.
15. Snoop Dogg
One of the kings of rap and hip-hop still relevant in the current world, he is showing in a sporty way but without making any statement, he just want to support the rap game in an important night for the queen of rap, Nicki Minaj. Green leather sweatshirt and sweat pants is what contains this outfit that just show the relax that is for him this gala.
14. DJ Khaled
One of the genius in commercial music the last decade, presented himself in the gala wearing Prada and a pair of fluorescents green Nikes. He is making a fashion statement and following trends with the use of neons and greens matching it with neutrals. His relevancy this occasion is to present his new LP GOD DID in which he do an incredible selection of collaborators with an okay result, just right for the radio stations.
13. Murda Beatz
This recognizable urban productor made an appearance last night in a fll outfit by Fendi of Silvia Venturini. He put his trust in red wine suit with an emphasis in the current best-seller bag of the brand. His songs are not that known by the main public but he really have some hits under his arm.
12. J Balvin
One of the hottest latin artist of the moment had a Louis Vuitton Menswear fantasy, style by Sita Abellan. The white look combines perfectly with the hair style he has at the moment (that is bright and bold in colors). Quite a few nominations he had, but the work he showed during the past year did not get any. We are waiting to see more of him in a near future (or I hope so).
11. Dylan O’Brian
The actor that went famous for playing Stiles Stilinsky in Teen Wolf, showing all his charisma to a young audience that was ready to receive another superstar. Now here he is, a few years later, and he still relevant to the public showing a cool Bode outfit. In his silhouette the tank top being that baggy was not a cool idea, but the print is everything we can ask for.
10. Khalid
Being present in some of the nominations, gave the power to this pop singer to appear in this red carpet. His outfit is right out of the runway (to be exact the look 14 in the Versace FW22 show). His songs had been a little bit underwhelming the past year (without counting a few bops that he dropped) and he was entering in the Latin world too, we will see in the future what happen with his career.
9. Jack Harlow
The winner of song of the year (First Class) is a rapper that have been in the mouth of everyone this past months due to his collab with Lil Nas X in Industry Baby (that have win some awards tonight too). His sexy and effortless look in wvery performance he does, resulted in a crazy reaction from the teenagers of USA. His full look by Hèrmes encapsulate his essence of classy but fuckboy at the same time. We just want to see more of him as an artist, because we know what he can do.
8. Colton Haynes
Another one of the Teen Wolf’s actors appear in the red carpet (the one that represented Jackson Whittemore in the show). That arrogant character is now an stylish rich men that trust in the Cactus Jack x Dior collab (the Travis Scott one) to stand out with one of the color of this season, the lime green. The fit in the upper part in incredible and the glasses makes a point, but how the suit goes into the shoes is a little bit underwhelming. But after all is a men dressing in a non normative way, yeah.
7. Blackbear
The saddest of the new generation of rappers, Matthew Tyler Musto trusted in the Givenchy of Matthew M. Williams to give all his essence in the red carpet and I think he nailed it. This is the kind of representation the new creative director of the French house want for his menswear collection. The total black look is a killing and I just want to see more from this rapper that is kind of in the shadows in a oversaturated market.
6. JID
The East Atlanta rapper is here to give us all after an incredible release this past week with his new album, The Forever Story. His voice is remarkable and how he flows in each of the tracks is just impecable. The YSL sponsor here help him to translate how he feels about his music, passionate and calm. Trusting the process and giving the message that work that is simple but clear can go crazy on the streams platforms.
5. Conan Gray
The pop singer of the moment for the melancholic teenagers that are missing Taylor Swift or are in the Olivia Rodrigo wave. In past red carpet he showed us a lot of Valentino and how well he goes in couture. But this time he and the number one of this list trusted Harris Reed for the great occasion. His look was overshadowed by his friend, but is still remarkable to notice in this heteronormative world.
4. Maneskin
The Italian band that is being one of the icons of our generation is here to stand out everywhere. This time Gucci by Alessandro Michelle prepare them some revealing looks that reinforce the idea of do not giving a fuck about the world they live in. Even though his performance was censored by the tits of one of the musicians and not by the cheeky ass of Damiano, we still support some risky performers.
3. Toosii
This rapper from North Carolina is still very new yet, but thanks to the stream world he has been the trusted one to listen after the soundcloud rapper declived. He is giving rap over some cool bases and his compilations of songs are not that bad. His style is very curated as well, in this case wearing pieces by YSL and Marni. Giving as a cool rachet outfit without being too informal and in green (that is trendy now).
2. Ryan Castro
From Colombia to the world, this new Latin artist presented his latest single in collaboration with J Balvin in an incredible performance that encapsulated all of the roots that both of the artists shared. This red oversized look might one of my favorites ever in a red carpet, is simple but attract every eye. The color red is the perfect election to stand out from others that are worried to be overshadow and the way that pants are made is otherworldly. Thanks Ryan for sharing Feli.p.pe’s work is so good to see new emerging designers.
1. Lil Nas X
In every single red carpet, he is carrying the fashion mens world into a whole new universe and we need to be thankful that we are witnessing it. The winner of Best Collab, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects for Industry Baby with Jack Harlow went crazy this time with the look. This black dreamy and feathered structure is a Harris Leed creation that robbed the spotlight of the ceremony. His impact in culture is innegable and is so intriguing to see what he is coming with next.
