After the 6 nights hosted in Singapore, The Eras Tour takes a break coinciding with the launch of The Tortured Poets Department
The Eras Tour will arrive in Europe on May 9th for its first night in Paris and the launch of The Tortured Poets Department will take place on April 19th. Most likely, this was all planned by Taylor Swift in advance. We all know she does not make a move like this without everything figured out previously. Perhaps, we could see a change in the setlist for the last part of the tour, including songs from the new album.
The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) drops today on Disney+. Maybe we could even see a new version of it including songs from TTPD.
The setlist is already very long and fans have complained about some of their favorite songs like YOYOK or Mirrorball not being part of the show. The addition of yet another era to the setlist could shorten the ones we already have but could also mean we can listen to the newest songs as soon as they come out. Opinions of each side appeared on social media at the moment of the announcement. The thing most fans were expecting at the Grammys was, in fact, the re-recording of Reputation. However, nobody is going to reject a brand-new Taylor Swift album.
Some fans have expressed disapproval of the move as it will take away concert time for songs other fans had the chance to listen to.
Only Taylor Swift could make such a bold move work
It is extremely rare for an artist to drop an album while already in the middle of a tour. Only someone like Taylor Swift could make something as unexpected. As far as we know the entire setlist could be reworked from top to bottom when adding TTPD. Surprise songs could also be affected as, obviously not all of the album will be included in the setlist and some songs could be played in that last part of the concert. Fans already have assumed “So Long, London” will be the last surprise song for the last date in London.
We have yet to wait for May 9th for the first Paris show to take us all out of doubt. Perhaps a new setlist, a slightly changed one, longer concerts or maybe even another tour announcement. Everything is possible for a creative mind like Taylor Swift so we never know what to expect.
