The DC Film About Superman’s Cousin Is Still At Project Stage
DC Studios officially has cast Milly Alcock to play Superman’s cousin in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. However, the film is still in the project stage: there is no director yet, and Ana Nogueira (The Vampire Diaries) has only just been hired to write the script.
James Gunn, director of The Guardians of the Galaxy and CEO of DC Studios, just began filming Superman: Legacy and he confirmed Alcock’s casting on Instagram.
Variety reports that Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran flew multiple actors to Atlanta for old-fashioned, onscreen auditions on the Superman: Legacy set. It seems that Alcock nailed the part.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be based on the DC Comics run of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
In the comics, Kara Zor-El finds her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, an alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there. A Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core.
