The JYP global girl group TWICE is back and their new album With You-th is proving to be a success with their single One Spark
On February 23 at 2 p.m. KST, TWICE made their long-awaited comeback with their new mini album “With YOU-th” and their title track “ONE SPARK.” Shortly after its release, the mini-album reached the top of the iTunes charts in several countries around the world. In the morning of February 25 KST, “With YOU-th” had already reached No. 1 on the iTunes top album charts in at least 24 different regions, including the United States, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, and more.
Additionally, the music video for “ONE SPARK” reached the No. 1 spot on YouTube’s global most popular music videos chart. Meanwhile, “With YOU-th” also managed to break TWICE’s previous first-week sales record on just the first day of its release.
TWICE is making their own lives and friendship a common theme in their music
The 9-member group always had the perception for global fans to be a big family. This idea turned out to be more than just a perception. TWICE wants to show they are family and use their lyrics to express that.
Since their debut in 2015, TWICE has grown into a nine-member group with a strong bond. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the group has continued to release successful music, expanding their sound and reaching international audiences. Their achievements include being the first female K-pop group to perform at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, which they sold out in June of last year.
Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu have overcome challenges from their survival program Sixteen, which solidified the group’s lineup almost 10 years ago, to brief hiatuses for members’ health, their resilience in a group setting is remarkable. Their new album, “With YOU-th“, emphasizes this tenacity and describes the support system that the members have become for one another. Additionally, the members are actively involved in production and songwriting, each bringing unique talents to the group, including different languages (Japanese, Chinese, and Korean) and senses of humor.
TWICE are still in the middle of their world tour
TWICE is far from stopping their activities. Their most awaited concert will take place in Las Vegas. Allegiant Stadium is prepared after hosting the Superbowl for the Korean group’s performance.
The global phenomenon of TWICE does not look like stopping soon and maybe a long-awaited bigger European tour could be the next step for the band. We will have to wait for that after all the content the group has been giving ONCE lately.
