The “God is a woman” singer has worked with her idol on a remix of her new song “Yes, and?”
Ariana Grande has returned to music as only she knows how. Their first single “Yes, and?” brought a new sound to the commercial scene offering something new and fresh to her fans who were eagerly awaiting new music from the singer.
The remix of the song was published on February 16 and included a lyrics video to give it an image on YouTube. To date, the video has almost one and a half million views, more than eleven thousand comments and almost one hundred and fifty thousand likes.
However, on social networks this collaboration has not been as well received as expected among the singers’ fans. Some even consider the remix inferior to the original song and blame Ariana for allowing Mariah to ruin the song just because she has been her idol since she was little.
It should be remembered that the singers already collaborated for the first time on a Christmas song for Mariah Carey with Jennifer Hudson called “Oh Santa!”. The song was one of the most successful on Mariah‘s album with which she intended to achieve another Christmas hit similar to “All I want for Christmas.”
However, this song had to wait years until fans could see the three singers together live, last Christmas being the first time they met and, for now, the last.
Both singers belong to two different generations, but that they have been recognized as great singers of their respective eras, since both Ariana and Mariah are capable of reaching the “whistle notes“, that is, the highest notes.
In a ‘clean version’, Carey‘s iconic voice infiltrated the first verse to accompany Grande during the song. Their voices blend together perfectly and, towards the end of the song, each one stands out with their high notes and those identifiable ‘whistle notes‘.
For her part, Ariana Grande is going all out to promote her next album “Eternal Sunshine” which will be available very soon and of which we already know almost the entire tracklist. The “no tears left to cry” singer is updating the titles of the songs that will be part of the album little by little, keeping fans intrigued and creating hype for her album so that it succeeds when it goes on sale.
In addition, Ariana participates in the Wicked movie, of which we are beginning to see the first images. However, the film will not see the light of day until the end of the year, specifically until November 27, the release date.
This collaboration is already a success in itself for the singer but with the release of the album many more are predicted for her. After years without releasing new music, the original version has been played on all radio stations around the world and the official YouTube video has 42 million views.
