Apple Music, the streaming music giant, announced last Wednesday, November 9, the artist of the year selected. The Puerto Rican Bad Bunny is the successor of Olivia Rodrigo, H.E.R and The Weeknd, the selected artists of 2021.
The reggaeton giant has achieved this title thanks to his album “Un verano sin ti”, the album with the highest number of plays of the year. But this is not the first award given to the artist by the platform: Bad Bunny and his single “Moscow Mule” previously received the award for most popular Latin song.
The artist is known worldwide and one of the most listened to, the most listened to according to Spotify.
In addition, several of his songs, specifically 22, have made it into the Top 100 of the Daily Top.
This year, Bad Bunny has been showered with awards: he won the Grammy for best urban music album in April, is the best-selling album and already has 10 mentions at the Latin Grammys on November 17.
The vice president of Apple Music and Beats, Oliver Schussre,is excited to mention the artist’s name hand in hand with this recognition, and mentions “we are thrilled to celebrate the successes of Bad Bunny, whose influence in every corner of culture should not be ignored in 2022”.
Benito, known as Bad Bunny, was already mentioned in the lists of most listened songs on the streaming platform last 2021. Thus, according to Apple, the Puerto Rican has meant “a seismic shift in pop worldwide”, and his music has been one of the brands of 2022.
