Seven years ago, in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 2015, Zagato presented the Mostro coupé of Maserati and seven years later, in the same place, the convertible version called Barchetta has been revealed. As the first version, this will be a limited edition and will have five copies, as the first one.
This model has been designed by Norihiko Harada, he has inspired in other two classics Maserati made by Zagato: the 1931 8C 2500 Sport Zagato and the 1957 450S Coupé Zagato. From the first one, the designer has taken the form, and from the second the design, for example, the sculpted forms from the front and the back.
The customers can choose from two engines, one 4.2 litres V8, and other bi-turbo V6 with 3.0 litres. The owners can choose the horsepower too, the have to select between 420 and 630 horsepower. In both cases the engine is on the front part and the weigh is divided in 50% between the two trains. This car has manual transmission. The chassis is made with carbon fiber and have a steel sub-chassis, the weight of the vehicle is 1,200 kilogrammes.
This car has been only seen during the 2022 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and during this event it was delivered to the owner. The price has not been revealed, and the special editions used to be sold before the presentation to the world, so for sure the other four cars has been sold. A lot of automakers are launching special editions of their models, but this time Maserati has fabricated a special edition inspired in another special edition. This type of cars are customized for the owners, so maybe the other four models are so different from this that has been presented, we have to wait to see the other versions of this model.
